Presented to the Yankee Clipper for his participation in the National Italian Invitational Open charity golf tournament in 1972, this money clip is from the personal collection of the legendary Joe DiMaggio. Dated and inscribed with the late great's name, the brass presentation piece features a central inset of a golfer on a blue background surmounting a glistening white diamond. In his later years, the baseball Hall of Fame icon moved to Florida from his hometown of San Francisco and took up golf on a regular basis, playing at charitable events such as the National Italian Invitational, which continues to hold a yearly golf tournament and sponsors numerous causes in both the United States and in Italy.

A cultural icon of America's favorite pastime, DiMaggio led the Yankees to nine World Series wins during his 13-year career, which spanned from 1936 to 1951. The son of Sicilian immigrants, he embodied the American Dream and earned his place as the American League’s Most Valuable Player three times over. He cemented his status as a lasting pop idol when he married America's favorite glamor girl, Marilyn Monroe, in 1954, and he still holds the MLB record hitting streak of 56 consecutive games.

This money clip comes with its letter of authenticity signed by Paula DiMaggio Hamra and Kathie DiMaggio Stein, the grandchildren of Joe DiMaggio.
