description
This extraordinary tourmaline displays an electric “canary” hue in this stunning ring. Weighing an outstanding 7.11 carats, this magnificent gem is surrounded by .65 carats of diamonds in its platinum and 18K yellow gold setting.

One of the rarest of all tourmalines, canary yellow tourmalines was discovered in Malawi in 2000. Although tourmalines are renowned for the incredible array of colors in which they are found, yellow specimens were almost unheard of, and those that were discovered displayed a tinge of brown coloring. However, the jewels of Malawi contain fine traces of magnesium, producing the electrifying, fresh lemon hue. Large yellow tourmalines are also quite rare. Only about 10% of the stones found are actually of gemstone quality, and when cut, only around 5% of these gems weigh more than one carat.
