Founded by the great Paul Storr in 1819, Hunt & Roskell were one of the most important London silversmithing firms of the 19th century. The firm became famous for crafting some of the greatest centerpieces of the Victorian age, employing the renowned sculptor Henry Hugh Armstead and designer G. A. Carter to create their exceptional works.

John Samuel Hunt, one-time assistant and nephew by marriage to legendary silversmith Paul Storr, took over his uncle's business upon Storr's retirement and death in 1838. For the next 50 years, the firm continued as one of the most important silversmithing firms in the world, serving as Crown Jewelers and Silversmiths to her Majesty Queen Victoria and her extended family of European royalty. Hunt & Roskell's pieces can be seen today in many museum collections around the world.
