This important Tiffany & Co. sterling silver tea and coffee service is crafted in the classic English King pattern. Introduced by Tiffany in 1885, English King is fashioned to reflect the elaborate entertaining styles of the Gilded Age, and is widely considered one of the most elegant patterns ever produced. This English King service is comprised of a hot water kettle, coffee pot, tea pot, creamer, waste bowl, and a sugar bowl with a lid, and each piece's graceful lines and intricate Neoclassical decoration combine to create a design of timeless elegance. The service is accompanied by a serving tray crafted by International Silver in the Lord Robert pattern and a mixer crafted from Swedish silver.

A significant increase in the popularity of the afternoon tea party and coffee hour in the United States made larger, more formal services common. A refined and elegant service such as this would have been an essential piece in upper class homes as a symbol of wealth and sophistication.

All pieces are marked “Tiffany & Co. Sterling Silver” with pattern numbers and the date letter “M” for Edward C. Moore.
