description
Austrian artist Bruno Zach is considered the "wild man" of erotic figures, and this Art Deco objet d'art is certainly inspired by his creativity. At first glance, the sculpture appears to be the figure of a jester. However, upon closer examination, the jovial performer can be lifted from its base to reveal a woman happily embracing a phallus in an erotic arrangement is known as "The Hugger" in Zach's body of work. This particular specimen, unlike most, features polychrome elements that add a decorative element to this well-known erotic sculpture.

Bruno Zach was born in Vienna and worked in Austria as well as in Germany. Famous for his fine bronzes made for the Wiener Bronze, or Vienna Bronze manufactory, the Ukrainian-born Zach was best known for his figures of flirtatious, sexually liberated young women. His favorite motifs were exotic dancers and nudes, and his pieces often dealt with the roaring nightlife of the 1920s.
