description
This extraordinary porcelain covered cups are the work of the legendary Royal Copenhagen. Crafted in the beloved Flora Danica pattern, one of the most prestigious porcelain patterns ever created, this stunning set of twelve incorporates the motif’s signature flower design with incredible effect. Boasting some of the most exquisite porcelain artistry in the world, each piece is adorned with intricately hand-painted motifs depicting a vast array of flowering plants in stunning detail. As with all Flora Danica, each piece features the Latin name of its individual flower on the reverse.

truly fit for royalty, Flora Danica was first commissioned in 1790 as a gift for Empress Catherine the Great of Russia. Consisting of 1,802 pieces, the service took 12 years complete, though the Empress died in 1796 before the great work was finished. It, therefore, remained in the Royal Danish family and was first used on January 29, 1803, for a banquet celebrating the birthday of King Christian VII. Today, it remains in the collection of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, who still uses the 200-year-old service on special state occasions. Adored by royalty since its inception, it is perhaps the world's most celebrated dinner service still made today.
