description
This extraordinary Regina Corona upright music box was crafted by the Regina Music Box Company of Rahway, New Jersey, one of the most recognized music box manufacturers in the world. Producing superb sounds at its full original functionality, this auto-change disc player can automatically change between 12 different tunes imprinted in its accompanying musical discs. Comprised of luminous polished mahogany, the upright casing boasting a glazed glass panel, barley twist columns, a carved crest adornment atop the cabinetry and an additional shelf below. The cabinet’s interior gallery is lined with the original paper depicting illustrations of a classical goddess and her musical cherubs.

The advent of the disc-playing musical machines in 1886 ushered in a new day for music lovers around the world. Prior to this new German invention, the only alternative to live music in the home or business was the costly cylinder music box. In 1894, the Regina Music Box Company was founded by Gustav Brachhausen in Rahway, New Jersey. They quickly gained national attention and acclaim for their superb music boxes and were an overwhelming success in America. Brachhausen brought with him years of experience and talents honed at the Polyphon Factory in Germany where he was in charge. Under his direction, the Regina Music Factory created a series of music boxes with a smooth, rich sound that was unsurpassed. Even today, Regina music boxes are considered among the very finest ever created.
