description
This rare, one-of-a-kind quartz-controlled electronic chronotome clock was crafted by the renowned Patek Philippe of Geneva as part of the firm's Electronic Clock System. Every Patek Philippe electronic clock was made on a special commissioned basis, meaning no two systems are alike. The present timepiece was created for the Swiss Shortwave Service, which later became Swiss Radio International. This horological wonder keeps track of the time using a quartz crystal, an innovation in its time.

Notorious for their mechanically complex wrist and pocket watches, it is no surprise that the Swiss firm of Patek Philippe developed such an advanced timepiece. The present model, the Chronotome, was developed in 1958 and stood apart from other clocks as it had the ability to store and use energy with the inclusion of five rechargeable batteries. Such a device would be helpful when the clock was used away from an immediate source of power.

Marked "Patek Philippe/“Genève on the dial and case.
