This elegant terra cotta bust entitled Hyliothrope was modeled by Art Nouveau sculptor A. Bertrand and created by the famed Goldscheider Manufactory of Vienna. Foliage, including golden sunflowers, surrounds this beautiful maiden as she glances over with a warming smile. According to the inscribed production number, the bust is part of a series of 115. Goldscheider was among the most dominant ceramic manufactories of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, employing some of the most gifted artists working in the Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles. The quality and condition of this magnificent bust is exemplary of Goldscheider at its best.

Hyliothrope is featured in Ora Pinhas' 2006 book Goldscheider, page 53.

The bust bears the incised artists signature A. Bertrand, the Goldscheider "Bouval" and "REPRODUCTION RESERVÉE" trademarks. Further marked with model number "2177," production number "115" and craftsman number "55."
