This charming Mettach beer stein by Villeroy & Boch of Germany depicts the romantic wanderer from the popular German folk song "Der Lindenbaum." The verse's famous first lines "Am Brunnen vor dem Tore Da steht ein Lindenbaum" ("By the fountain, near the gate, there stands a linden tree") encircle the stein, which is a delightful ode to the timeless song. The .5 liter vessel retains its original pewter thumb hinge and is in excellent condition.

The stein bears the incised Mettlach abbey mark above the form number "2838"
