American artist Karl Witkowski eloquently captures childhood innocence in this touching composition. Witkowski was born in central Europe, in either Austria or Poland, and immigrated to New Jersey as a child. Once he realized his talent in painting, he attended the Academie Julian in Paris to receive his formal art training in the late 1880s.
