This beautiful silver gilt trophy cup was crafted by Tiffany & Co. and presented to Commodore Joseph V. Santry by the New York Yacht Club for winning The King's Cup yachting tournament in 1947. Presentation pieces rarely find their way out of private collections, making this trophy truly unique.
The inscription on the trophy reads:
"This trophy given by/The New York Yacht Club/to/Commodore Joseph V. Santry/owner of the Schooner/Pleione/in recognition of Pleione's winning/The King's Cup/off Marblehead, 11th of August, 1947."
The trophy bears the Tiffany & Co. mark and the san-serif "M" for Louis deBebian Moore, circa 1947-1955.
