This rare and charming Swiss enameled étui boasts exceptional artistry. Comprised of yellow gold, this discrete message case is beautifully decorated with the most intricate figural enamel plaques set amongst fine white champlevé enamel detailing. A small, easily concealed container such as this would have been used to pass correspondence, and was easily sealed with wax to ensure discretion. A work of incredible artistry, this étui flawlessly reflects the 18th-century taste for dynamic forms, classical motifs and intricate ornamentation.
