An outstanding silver soup tureen created by English silversmith James Young, crafted in an elegant and well-balanced boat form. An exquisite example of Georgian silver artistry, this tureen is graced with chased gadroon bands around the rim and foot and two reeded handles. The coat-of-arms of the Wilson family is engraved with great skill on the tureen's body within a ribbon-tied drapery mantle, while an urn finial tops the sophisticated design. Georgian silver is known for its classical, polished style, and the magnificent execution and attention to detail make this one of the most refined Georgian-period tureens we have had.
