This lovely secretary desk, also known as an escritoire, is a fine example of late 19th-century American furniture making. The entire Rococo-inspired piece is crafted of rosewood with fine satinwood gracing the interior. Intricate inlaywork on the drop-down writing surface immediately catches the eye, featuring a beautiful outdoor scene executed in poplar and sycamore. Once the writing surface is opened, a perfectly appointed interior of drawers, pigeon-holes and four secret compartments, provide ample space to store even the most important documents and small valuables. An additonal large drawer near the base of the secreatary adorned with elegant carving.
