This wonderful silver plate cruet set by G.R. Collis & Co. of Birmingham revolves on a fixed base for easy use at the dinner table. Eight cut glass bottles, with original glass stoppers and silver plate lids, were once filled with oil, vinegar, mustard and other condiments. Each bottle fits into the revolving stand that features a ring of putti relishing in the grape harvest. The central handle of the cruet is in the form of a grapevine, with the base taking the form of grape leaves and vines. Excellent condition.
The revolving stand is marked on the underside "G.R. Collis & Co. / Curch St. Birm / Manufacturer" along with a set of Birmingham silver plate marks. George Richmond Collis opperated from 28 Curch Street in Birmingham from 1835 until 1868.
