A young lady rests her eyes and feet in this alluring porcelain figure, crafted after Meissen. Painted by Carl Thieme, this figure is a model of exceptional composition. The lady's reclining pose is beautifully detailed, and judging by the sealed missive tucked discreetly in her bodice, perhaps an admirer is in her thoughts. Founded in the early 18th century, the Meissen factory was the first European ceramics manufacturer to produce "true" or hard-paste porcelain, and remained unrivaled in terms of innovation and beauty for decades. Carl Thieme operated a painting studio near Dresden from 1876-1895. His works are known for their skillful execution and artistry, and to find a piece in such wonderful condition is exceptional.

Marked on the base with the Carl Thieme mark.
