A beautifully executed ivory triptych of Austrian origin. These religious objects were one of the earliest forms of Christian art. The use of the number three, considered a significant number in the Christian religion (symbolizing the Holy Trinity) has been utilized as a standard form for altar paintings, stained glass windows and carved works of art that include the triptych.
