This incredibly rare French automaton timepiece pays homage to the first flying machines. It features an airplane that "flies" with a revolving propeller, around the gantry. The gantry houses a clock, thermometer and barometer. Clocks such as this were crafted for heads of industry in France during the 19th century. During this time, France was the leader in industry and engineering in the world, with some of the most talented minds receiving degrees from the country's prestigious technical institutes.
