A beautiful iridescent, golden glow is emitted from the art glass shades of this outstanding Arts and Crafts-era chandelier by Quezal Art Glass and Decorating Co. of New York. The five-light chandelier boasts brilliant inverted tulip-form shades suspended from a brass fixture displaying a rich patina. The firm operated from 1902 until 1925, and is credited with making some of the most elegant art glass of the Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts movements. The firm was founded in Queens, New York by master glassmakers Martin Bach, Sr., Thomas Johnson, Nicholas Bach, Lena Scholtz and Adolph Demuth. Many of these glassmakers were former employees of Tiffany Studios who decided to apply the skills they perfected to create magnificent iridescent art glass objects. Though the company existed for a relatively short period of time, the quality and brilliance of Quezal's creations is extraordinary.

Did you know...
It is often assumed that Quezal was named after a glass artisan that also worked at the Tiffany Studios workshops. However, the name is actually derived from the exotic and beautiful Quetzal bird of Central America.
