George Washington's hair and vest fiber are beautifully mounted in this magnificent frame. Accompanied by a portrait of our nation's first chief executive and his signature, these extremely personal mementos were originally in the possession of Thomas Farmer, circa 1845. Personal artifacts of George Washington are among the most rare and highly important American historical items. Until the late 19th and early 20th centuries, locks of hair and clippings of clothing were often cherished as remembrances of close friends, relatives and loves, and to find items belonging to such an illustrious figure as Washington is a true honor.
