Creamy white South Sea pearls are surrounded by 20 sparkling white diamonds in these outstanding vintage clip earrings. The exquisite orbs measure 13.8 mm and 14.45 mm, respectively, and exhibit the peerless beauty synonymous with pearls hailing from the warm waters of the South Seas. The pear-shaped diamonds that surround each pearl total approximately 8.00 carats and add the perfect amount of shimmer. Set in platinum.
Found in the favorable warm waters of the South Seas, these fantastic pearls are produced by the Pinctada maxima mollusk and are cultured in tiny locales throughout the Indian and Pacific Oceans. The nacre (the substance of which pearls are comprised) of these incredible pearls is unusually thick, ranging between 2 mm and 6 mm, compared to the 0.35 mm to 0.7 mm of the more common akoya pearl. This gives the South Sea pearl its renowned luster, placing it among the most desirable of all pearls.
