This incredible Napoleon III-period perpetual calendar clock garniture was crafted by the famed clock making partnership of Archille Brocot and J.B. Delettrez of Paris. Featuring a precise Brocot escapement, this magnificent timepiece has the ability to tell not only the time, but also the day, date, month and moon phase. This mechanical masterpiece is encased in exquisite figural doré bronze and white marble, including the candelabra which can be modified to hold either five or six candles by removing the finial. The quality and condition, both mechanically and aesthetically, of this clock garniture make it an incredible acquisition for the avid clock collector.

Archille Brocot was the eldest son of famed clockmaker Louis-Gabriel Brocot, the creator of several clock mechanism advancements, including the highly accurate Brocot escapement. Archille's claim to fame was his design for the highly effective perpetual calendar mechanism seen in this extraordinary example. He and fellow clockmaker J.B. Delettrez became partners circa 1850, operating on the Rue Charlot in Paris. The pair was in business together until sometime in 1870, when Delettrez acquired the firm's patents. Historically, clocks crafted by Brocot and Delettrez not only exhibit incredible ingenuity, but also exceptional cases utilizing the finest materials of the day.

The clock face is marked "A. BROCOT & DELETTREZ PARIS" while the calendar face is marked "BREVETÉ."
