An incredibly rare and important example of early American craftsmanship, this exceptional set of 12 silver dessert spoons was created by famed silversmith and American patriot Paul Revere. The spoons feature elegant bright-cut engraving with the monogram "JSR" in a cartouche. Renowned for his work in the Georgian and English Neoclassical styles, this complete set of spoons are exemplary of Revere's talents as a silversmith. While his midnight ride made him a legend, it was Paul Revere's extraordinary work as a silversmith that has left such a valuable legacy on the American decorative arts. In fact, Revere was among the very few American silversmiths who had the talent to actually complete a piece of silver from start to finish, including the engraving.
