Cupid strums a golden harp in this enchanting Palais Royal jewelry stand. Crafted during the Napoleon III period, this impeccable ormolu piece seats this mythological figure and his instrument atop an ornately decorated plinth with an engraved mother-of-pearl floor, while a cleverly concealed drawer provides additional storage. This stand also contains a melodious secret hidden within the base. Simply push one of the pedals on Cupid's harp, and a charming tune begins to play.

Since the reign of Louis XIV, the Palais Royal shopping district has been a rich and amazing part of Parisian life. Located in a palace and garden north of the Louvre, it was originally the home of Cardinal Richelieu, and under Louis Philippe II,  it was redesigned and open to the public as  one of the premiere early "shopping centers" in Europe. Famous for its upscale merchandise and wide variety of products available, it was one of the most important marketplaces in Europe. In addition to featuring a thriving theatre and world-class dining, the old palace held as many as 145 shops, including boutiques, cafés, hair salons, bookshops and museums. For royalty, courtiers and wealthy world-travelers, it was the epitome of luxury.
