The exquisite, deep carving of this fine oak Lazy Susan occasional table is consistent with the masterful cabinetmaking associated with the famed S.J. Waring firm of Liverpool. Standing upon a tripod base terminating in paw feet, the top of the antique table is able to swivel on a fixed point. The entire piece is crafted of quarter-sawn oak, a cut that is known to resist warping, as indicated by the striations seen in the grain. This timber would have only been used on a piece in which maintaining a high level quality was of the utmost importance. The acorn and oak leaf motif imparted on this table adds a depth and richness to the overall design.
