This charming cane features a silver topper with a minimal modernist design. Miniature canes, such as this one, were used by children to accessorize their outfits, in much the same manner as adult canes were used. They were manufactured with the same quality and precision as adult canes. Canes have historically been a status symbol for both men and women, sometimes interchanged with the sword or the umbrella depending on the time period and social occasion. In the 17th Century King Louis XIV of France restricted the use of canes to only the aristocracy and his subjects were not allowed to carry canes in his presence as they were such a symbol of power. It was during this time that beautifully adorned canes and walking sticks were widely accepted as an accessory of elegance and social prominence among the nobility.
