A great Mettach beer stein by Villeroy & Boch of Germany, depicting four hunters called "Jager" in German. The sculptural and painted image on the porcelain lid is of acorns. This beautiful .5 liter stein retains its original pewter thumb hinge which is also in the shape of acorns and is in excellent condition.
The stein bears the incised Mettlach abbey mark above the form number "1695" and the date mark of "89" for the year 1889.
