This spectacular Meissen mirror, crafted of the highest quality porcelain, is beautifully decorated in the exuberant Rococo style. Exhibiting a graceful arabesque shape, the mirror is punctuated with stunning, s-and c-curves, shell forms and a delightful array of lifelike flowers and foliage, all accented with subtle gilding. The expert craftsmanship extends to the mirrored glass itself, which displays a beveled edge that perfectly matches the shape of the frame. As functional as it is beautiful, this mirror also serves as a source of light thanks to three extending candleholders. By reflecting the light it creates, this mirror can illuminate an entire room. Creating such a mirror was a painstaking process, and the enormous decorative detail is stunning. Extraordinary detail, superb craftsmanship and excellent condition rank this as one of the finest examples of Meissen porcelain ever created.

Founded in the early 18th century, the Meissen factory remained unrivaled in terms of innovation and beauty for decades. Though the formula for hard-paste porcelain gradually found its way across Europe, the Royal Manufactory at Meissen continued to produce some of the finest pieces the world had ever seen. Exquisitely crafted figures of all sizes, along with dinner services and artistic objects were all part of the Meissen repertoire. Spectacular, palatially sized masterpieces such as this became showpieces for the factory, though their expense and complexity limited their production.

By the middle of the 19th century these large pieces had found an audience among royals and aristocrats around the world. International exhibitions and the resurgence of the Renaissance style made this classically inspired mirror even more desirable.
