A fine 19th-century Meissen crinoline figural group of two lovers with a child. Named "crinoline" after the large hooped skirts worn by the female figures, these forms often portrayed romantic scenes of courtly love, with well-heeled gentlemen vying for a woman's affection. Crinoline figures such as this reflected the influence of the French Court on European aristocracy. Today, these elegant figures are some of Meissen's most desirable.
