This incredible rondel dagger dates to 15th century Europe, and is believed to be French or Italian in origin. The rounded, or rondel, pommel (the trait which gives the dagger its name) features a decorative, engraved plaque crafted of bronze. The dagger was traditionally a peasant weapon, but it became popular amongst knights and merchants as a side arm in combat, at jousting tournaments, for protection, and even as a utility tool. Its typically 12-inch slender blade was able to penetrate armor and chain mail, making it perfectly suited for hand-to-hand combat.
