Delicate leaves grace the thread-adorned surface of this striking glass vase by Durand. A descendant of the Baccarat family of glass in both style and quality, Durand glass was produced in a very wide variety of types and forms, including covered jars, bowls, vases, perfumes, powder boxes and lamps, with many of the pieces utilizing an unusual shiny yellow glass dubbed "oil glass." The intricate and elegant design won a medal of honor at the Sesquicentennial International Exposition in Philadelphia, and today, the rarity of the pieces make them highly desirable to collectors.
