A fantastic terracotta work attributed to the esteemed Bohemian firm of Bernhard Bloch (1836-1909). Entitled Jeune Maure au Panier, this work features vibrantly painted colors over a white terra cotta cast. Bloch was one of the top producers of figural terra cotta works and his pieces are prized by collectors. He founded his firm in 1871, which was run under his name until 1940. A similar work by Bloch is pictured in Terres cuites orientalistes et africanistes 1860-1940 by Stéphane Richemond, on page 112. Excellent condition.
