This marvelous and incredibly rare Indian silver tea server actually pours a mixture of tea and milk from the camel's mouth! One barrel is filled with warm tea and the other with warm milk. Move the camel's tail to regulate the amount of tea and milk added to each cup then, as you turn the silver crank handle on the base, the camel's head moves down for pouring. The base of the server includes a compartment for storing teas and a silver sugar bowl lies beneath the camel figure.
The remarkable repousséd, engraved and hammered decoration of this server is simply stunning in both detail and complexity. Indian silversmiths are world renowned for their intricate craftsmanship. Rooted in ancient methods and traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation, the techniques shown on antique Indian silver are still used today and have remained virtually unchanged for more than 1,000 years. Almost certainly made for a maharajah, this piece is truly extraordinary.
