I Fjellet is a quintessential example of Norwegian landscapist Hans Dahl's phenomenal paintings of beautiful maidens immersed in nature. The wind-swept Scandinavian woman working amongst a field of wild flowers gives the canvas a tremendous dimension of movement and vitality, characteristics of Dahl's greatest and most in-demand works. Combined with his masterful use of space and color, I Fjellet is possibly one of the finest examples by this accomplished artist.
Dahl studied in Carlsruhe and in Düsseldorf. He made his debut in Berlin, 1876, and exhibited his works in Düsseldorf and at the Philadelphia Exhibition. His vibrant color palate and captivating subject matter are highly appealing and very much in demand.
