A rare and incredible sterling silver salver by Hester Bateman, the "Queen of English Silversmiths." Accentuated by a row of refined applied beadwork around the border, this antique Georgian tray flawlessly illustrates the silversmith's flair for elegance. The sterling silver salver is supported by dainty beaded feet, which give a sense of lightness to this wonderful serving piece. A highly detailed coat-of-arms, executed in Bateman' signature bright-cut engraving completes this stately design.
This elegant salver is an excellent example of Bateman's signature artistry. Her legendary classical style and expert craftsmanship have translated into some of the most highly collected sterling pieces of all time. Her light and skillful hand, as well as her success as an 18th-century businesswoman, characterizes her work to this day.
