An important and very rare large sterling tankard by the extraordinary Georgian silversmith, Hester Bateman. This incredible covered tankard features a flaring cylindrical, with applied mid band and a domed cover. The handle ends with a heart-shaped terminal. Bears the mark of Hester Bateman as well as the datemark for London 1784.

Hallmarked on body and cover London 1784.
