This enchanting George III Irish silver epergne is a masterpiece of Irish silver artistry. Crafted by William Homer of Dublin, this remarkably detailed design is executed with the utmost precision and delicacy, from the Rococo elements that seem to dance throughout the piece, to the extraordinary openwork, which gives it a lightness that belies its well-balanced form. Considered among the rarest of silver works, a wonderful epergne of such outstanding quality, crafted by an Irish silversmith, is extremely rare and was most certainly a special commission created for an individual of great social and economic standing. It is without question one of the finest Irish George III epergnes on the market.

Epergnes have been a lasting symbol of dining elegance and social status for more than 300 years. The term epergne, derived from the French word épargne, meaning "a savings" is an appropriate term for a centerpiece that actually saved space on tables by consolidating numerous condiments into its many bowls and baskets.
