A phenomenal and monumental French tapestry after a beautiful Rococo painting by celebrated painter François Boucher entitled 'La Fontaine d'Armour.' This remarkable woodland scene springs to life with lovely romantic figures surrounding a sculpted fountain. One of six tapestries known as Les Beaux Pastorales, this scene is often included in a series of six panels originally woven in Beauvais, France during the 18th century. This particular work is a reverse weaving of the original Beauvais design and bearing the same frame border and corner cartouches. Beautiful craftsmanship and condition.
