This stunning French portico clock exudes tasteful elegance. Crafted of luxurious Carrara marble in the Louis XVI-style, this stunning timepiece boasts cast doré bronze adornments, from the Cupid finial and flower-bearing urns to the flanking caryatids and scrolling garlands. The two-train, bell-striking movement features an enameled dial decorated with floral garlands and a sunburst pendulum, and tells time with ornate pierced gilt bronze hands. Taking their inspiration from the architecture of Greek temples, portico clocks such as this one exhibit a wonderful sense of balance and classical beauty. To find one crafted of precious Carrara marble and in such wonderful condition on the market is quite extraordinary. Very similar clocks are featured in French Clocks The World Over by Tardy.
