This elegant etui is flawlessly crafted in the sublime neoclassical style, this container is made of various shades of gold and is distinguished by panels of peaked guilloche engraving. Borders of foliate, floral and ribbon chasing complete the design. Etuis were once carried by affluent members of society to carry secret correspondence between lovers or other cohorts. Confidential notes would be tucked inside the box, which would then have been sealed with wax for optimal security.
