This elegant French cushion mirror is mounted by a fine Louis XVI-style giltwood frame. The frame secures the beveled, octagonal central glass along with eight additional panels bearing notched decoration. The mirror is surmounted by a mask flanked by shells and acanthus detailing. Boasting its original gilding and mirrored glass, this mirror is a beautiful 19th century example of French decorative art.

Styled after the designs of the legendary Thomas Chippendale, this monumental 19th century mirror is a work of art. The intricate tripartite frame is crafted of giltwood, and is decorated with graceful elements such as flourishing foliage, acanthus leaf scrolls and flowers, cascades and icicles, and two Hou-hou birds, or Japanese phoenixes.
