This incredible French Louis XVI-style annular dial clock is crafted of rare and exquisite fleur de pêcher marble enveloped with fine doré bronze adornments. Also known as a pendule a cercles tournants, this large timepiece tells the time on two revolving chapter rings, with a charming bronze figure of Cupid pointing to the exact hour and minute. The shield and helmet of the Roman goddess Minerva, the patroness of wisdom, the arts and war, rest beside the clock atop the rouge griotte marble plinth.
Fleur de pêcher, or peach blossom marble, hails from the famed Carrara quarry in Italy and is prized for its dramatic patterns and remarkable blend of violet and peach hues. It was reserved for the most luxurious applications in stunning objets d'art, such as this clock, and regal interiors including the Paris Opera.
A label affixed to the clock denotes it was once part of the inventory of the Princeville Hotel of Kauai, Hawaii
