A classically designed and rare Empire-period "pendules de Paris" mantel clock crafted of flawless fire-gilded bronze by Pillioud of Paris. Entitled Enfant a la Toilette, it depicts a cherub bathing in front of a dressing mirror in amazing detail. The Pillioud firm was known for their outstanding clocks during the first part of the 1800s. The firm was located on Rue de Richelieu, the most fashionable shopping district in Paris, comprising clockmakers, jewelers and other luxury retailers.
The enameled clock face is inscribed "Pillioud / Rue de Richelieu No. 55"
