A pair of exceptionally hand-carved sphinxes distinguishes this unique Empire-style armchair. Crafted of handsome, elegantly grained walnut, this chair boasts a high scrolling back, upholstered arms and masterfully turned and carved legs terminating in its original brass casters. Such singular furnishings, especially those of the quality and condition of this chair, make wonderful statement pieces in a room's décor. Circa 1890 25 1/2" wide x 23" deep (at seat) x 44 3/4" high
