This amazing Egyptian Revival clock garniture by J. E. Caldwell & Co. of Philadelphia is almost identical to the set that is housed in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Composed of a clock and two obelisks, this garniture is crafted of bronze and rare Breccia and Siena marbles in the form of Egyptian monuments. Surmounted by an impressive sphinx, the timepiece tells the time with hands shaped like Egyptian gods and a unique set of numerals, while the enchanting obelisks are adorned with hieroglyphics, divine figures and cow's heads accents. To find such an exceptional garniture, and superb example, in this intriguing style is quite rare.
