This rare gold and enamel snuff box is gracefully crafted in stunning detail. A bold Rococo design encases the entire box, with twisting engraved foliage and a running hound on the lid. Works of skillful and attentive artistry, snuff boxes like this were among the most fashionable luxury items from the 16th to the 18th centuries, and were often exchanged as gifts, especially among gentlemen. The finer examples such as this are most desirable.
