A foliate cast loop handle and frame rest on four carefully executed scrolled legs, making this piece as functional as it is beautiful. This aesthetically charming fire screen is worthy of any appointed fireplace setting. Firescreens were a staple of any well-appointed home, serving as both decorative and useful objects. They were placed in front of a fireplace to protect priceless rugs and flooring, and ladies' wide skirts, from flying sparks and embers.
