A very fine antique silvered and gilded bronze statue by French artist Joseph Gustave Cheret (1838-1894) of a child with baskets. Cheret was the son-in-law of one of renowned sculptor Carrier-Belleuse, following in his footsteps as the Director of the Sèvres factory. Cheret exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1863-1894 and at the Societe Nationale des Beaux-Arts from 1891 until his death. His works were posthumously exhibited at the famed Ecole des Beaux-Arts. Excellent condition. Circa 1890. 11" high and 5 3/4" wide
