Comprised of six glasses and a large pitcher, this impeccable set depicts riders, hunters and woodspeople surrounded by intricately etched trees, animals and plants. This wondrous motif covers both sides of the glass, as the forest floor surrounds the base of the glasses. Delicate initials complete this marvelous service.
Bohemian glassmakers are considered among the finest in the world. Their artistic tradition dates as far back as 1530, when Bohemian glass witnessed great artistic and technical advances, fuelled by an avid Royal patronage. Though Rudolph II moved his court to Vienna in 1612, Bohemia continued to be at the forefront of glass production well into the 19th century. Traveling salesmen, beginning in the late 17th century, carried the works of the Bohemian artists around the world, igniting a passion for this remarkable glass that continues today.
